Real-Time Crime Prediction For Efficient Response

Sometimes, crime victims don’t get the opportunity or time to make that 911 call to call for help. Sometimes it’s very risky to do so at that particular moment thereby, leading to them having less chances of getting help.

Problem:

Sometimes, crime victims don’t get the opportunity or time to make that 911 call to call for help. Sometimes it’s very risky to do so at that particular moment thereby, leading to them having less chances of getting help.

Also, sometimes the police get a brief call without getting much details of what’s happening and with little or no information of the crime being committed, they may find it difficult to know how exactly to respond like. For example, if to call for back up or call for an ambulance to standby, etc.

My Solution:

Build a model that would increase the chance crime victims have in getting help and surviving an ordeal and also for the crime response team to have an idea how to respond to the crime being committed and be ready and provide immediate help if there are some casualties thereby, increasing their chances of survival. I used the Chicago crime database from 2001 – present to train the model. This dataset is constantly being updated and right now, I am using the crime entries from 2001 to 03/20/2015. The dataset contains 3,197,449 entries.
